Top Ten New (to me) Series I Want to Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
When I first saw the topic for this week's Top Ten Tuesday, I'll admit I was a little skeptical. I just didn't think there were ten distinct series that I really wanted to read, especially since I just read the first books in a couple different series (The Iron Fey and The Raven Cycle). But I went through my Kindle, and then I went through my Goodreads. And then I realized that I had waaay more than ten that I wanted to start, so here are the first ten I came across that I really want to read.

(Confession: I technically started Grave Mercy several weeks ago, but since I didn't get very far at                 the time and I've been reading other books in the meantime, so I don't think it should count.)
10. Legend:

Any thoughts/suggestions on these? I've heard mostly good things about all of these. His Fair Assassins might be the series with the most mixed reviews (to my knowledge), but I'm still quite interested in diving in.

EDIT: I'm a huge dummy. I completely forgot to mention that I just started two new audiobooks, both of which are the first books in their respective series: Fallen (Fallen) and Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles).

  2. Awesome picks! I loved These Broken Stars and The Winner's Curse, I am so excited for those sequels. Snow Like Ashes, Angelfall and Shadow and Bone are three series I am really looking forward to starting. I hope you can get to some of these soon :) TTT.

    1. I've actually been trying to leave a comment on your list! My computer was acting up earlier, but I'm going to try again :)
I'm glad you liked These Broken Stars and The Winner's Curse...Sometimes books sound so lovely and then end up disappointing me, so I'm glad to hear that they are worth the hype!

  4. GREAT list! There are quite a few of these I would recommend for sure. The Penryn and the End of Days books are really good (and now the third is FINALLY coming out soon), and The Grisha trilogy... my goodness, you MUST read it! Go right now ;) I also really liked Legend, and I thought each book got better. And I enjoyed The Winner's Curse too. Hope you love them!

    1. Penryn and the End of Days seems to be the consensus for a starting point... So I think that's just what I'll do. Thank you!

  8. OMG so many good series on your list!!! Starbound, Snow Like Ashes, Winner's Trilogy, His Fair Assassin, Abhorsen and Legend! All AMAZING series!

And I really need to read Penryn and the End of Days, Grisha, and The Lynburn Legacy. Heard great things about all 3!

The only one I haven't heard of on this list is Books of Faeries. I haven't read anything by Maggie Stiefvater, but I've heard so many good things. She's definitely an author on my TBR.

    1. Thank you! I feel like a bunch of these are basic series that everybody else has read, and I'm just trying to catch up :)
I just finished The Scropio Races by Maggie Stiefvater yesterday, and it was excellent. As was The Raven Boys, which is the first book in her Raven Cycle series.

  10. I've started 1, 2, 4, 5, and 8. I also read the Books of Faerie and they were okay, I liked the first book, but the second was too weird (not my favorite Stiefvater books). I also have a few of the first books of the other series, but haven't read them yet.

My favorites are Winners Curse, All These Broken Stars and Angelfall. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. So far I'm finding Stiefvater sort of hit or miss. I LOVED The Raven Boys, and I really enjoyed The Scorpio Races, but I'm having a hard time getting into Shiver. I'll be interested to see where the Books of Faerie lands.

  11. Fantastic list! I've already started (but haven't finished) Starbound, The Winner's Trilogy (I love the cover for book two, but I wish the font was done in the same way) and Legend (only have Champion to go, and I can't get into it :( ) I've technically started the Angelfall series too, but I put Angelfall down 150ish pages in because I wasn't in the right mood for it.

I want to read The Grisha, The Lynburn Legacy, Abhorsen, Snow Like Ashes and His Fair Assassin too. :) You have some fantastic reading ahead of you!

    1. Thanks! And I agree with you on the font change for The Winner's Trilogy... I love a good sideways title!

  12. Wooooo

Angelfall is not perfect but it certainly is one of the best angel books out there. Not your typical fallen angel falls for human girl, or angel girl grows fond of human boy run of the mill story. Very action-packed.

I've read These Broken Starts and it's worth it! Loved the dual point of view and how these two character's relationship begins to appear. You can check out my review of it here: (Warning: I was suffering of gif itch) Review

The Grisha Trilogy! The best thing about it is the worldbuilding. A lot of work went into this. The author made sure we could read a story where the world was as alive as any of the characters in it. (Which are also awesome.) Even the antagonist is someone a lot of fans have been even supporting. Very well done.

    1. I loooove gifs, so I'm totally loving your review of TBS! And I'm glad the world building in the Grisha series passes muster - that's one of the reasons I love to read fantasy. Thanks for checking out my post!

  13. I highly recommend the Grisha Trilogy! I wish I could erase them from my brain just so I could read them again. They are wonderful; I devoured them. I also love the Angelfall books and The Winner's Curse. And I still need to finish the Legend trilogy. Personally, I didn't care much for Grave Mercy, at least not the first one. I haven't read the others in the series. Fantastic list!

  14. You have lots of great choices!
Starbound - one of my absolute favorite new series! So unique, with fantastic world building and amazing characters. Tarver is mine though. =)
The Winner's Curse - the writing is so good! I'm really nervous to read book 2 because I hear it ends on a major cliffy. :(
Penryn - oh yes, everyone needs to read these books. kickass heroine + totally awesome angel love interest/warrior. LOVE.
His Fair Assassin - yeah, how can you not read books with that plot synopsis?! :P
    Happy reading, girl!
